Facebook Tools To Be Aware Of

As a social media marketer, the most important thing is to know and understand, the tools that are available. There is a great article from Mashable that I read a while ago; 14 Facebook tools you didn’t know existed – which outlined some tools that are important for everyone to know about. You may or may not already be aware of these – but if not I wanted to make you aware, and ensure that you start to take advantage of them.

Here are the six Facebook tools that stood out the most to me:

  1. Activity Log: This tool is handy for both consumers and businesses – an easy way to look at everything going on with your Facebook page. Most people do not know that this is also where you can view and edit pre-scheduled posts. Yes! You can preschedule posts on Facebook, but if you’re in the social media management game you probably are more comfortable with an online tool such as Hootsuite or SproutSocial.
  2. Conversion Tracking: By setting up conversion tracking you can track the effectiveness of your ads based on the specific action you want them to complete, like making a purchase, entering a contest, or just clicking on a link. This tool is useful for all businesses who want to get the best analytics out of their Facebook ad campaigns.
  3. Custom Audiences: The custom audience tool makes targeting a breeze! If you already have segmented lists, this tool allows you to upload them to your Facebook account – making sharing easy. Keep in mind that all files need to be in CSV or TXT format to be uploaded correctly. Oh – and the information is encrypted, so you don’t have to worry about anyone being able to access it.
  4. Export Your Calendar: This tool might be a bit more useful for personal accounts – but it is nonetheless a handy one. There are so many events on Facebook; you probably get invited to 3-4 every single day. Exporting your calendar is a great way to make sure you don’t miss anything important. Perhaps it’s more exciting for people like me who like to see everything in one calendar? Is it because I am a Virgo?
  5. Facebook Desktop Chat: This is one tool that I found helpful – especially working in social media. I am always logged into Facebook, and sometimes clients choose to chat with me instead of e-mailing or calling. There is nothing wrong with Facebook chat, but sometimes it gets tiresome having to switch back and forth from tabs to chat. This tool allows you to use Facebook Chat on your desktop, saving you both time and energy.
  6. Power Editor: If you’re managing several different ads at once, you should be using the Power Editor tool. This tool allows you to make minor variations to the same ad to see what works the best with your audience. The Power Editor tool also lets you create custom audiences for each ad – which will help you maximize results.

Although not all of these tools are specifically geared toward business, it is important to know of their existence and be able to use them. The article I linked to above is worth reading, as there are eight tools I did not talk about in this blog that might also be useful to you or your business.
