#Hygge Social Media Post Ideas For Autumn

Guess what?! It’s time to start filling your content calendar up for the colder months! It’s time to embrace #hygge!

What Is Hygge?

“Pronounced “hoo-ga,” this Danish concept cannot be translated to one single word but encompasses a feeling of cozy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life.” – Country Living

So hygge is more of a feeling than any one thing. It’s good food, good friends and good conversation. It’s unwinding at the end of the day with a glass of wine or decadent dessert. It’s feelings of nostalgia and happiness.

If you’ve ever enjoyed a good book on a lazy Sunday or a warm drink on a chilly day, you’ve experienced hygge without even knowing it!

Autumn is something of a cultural phenomenon at this point, and it will soon be the holiday season. We want you to be prepared! So here are some post ideas that embrace the comforting #hygge trend!

Melting Foods

Melting chocolate, melting cheese, even melting ice cream is a universal sign of comfort.

For these posts, you can film a slow-mo video of any sort of gooey-goodness (i.e. lava cake or fondu). Share close-up shots of yummy foods and embrace the messy home-made feel!

Soft Textiles With Textures

Whether they’re printed or plain, textiles and textures that embrace hygge are a must!

Soft, rustic textures take precedence over cold, clean lines when hygge is the goal. The idea is to create and share inviting places that make people want to stay in, relax and read a good book.

So pile up those warm blankets and cozy throws and add lots and lots of pillows to your shots!

Warm Lighting

Whether it’s dim lighting or the glow of a nearby fire, warm ambient light, Hygge is all about that natural evening glow.

These create an intimate setting that is essential to the hygge atmosphere!

Candles

Candles fall under the theme of warm lighting as well but deserve a category all on their own. As far as hygge is concerned, you can never have too many candles!

However, it should be noted that burning candles on the regular has its drawbacks. They can be expensive, dangerous when left unattended and inconvenient.

So try to “switch to LED or battery-powered [candle] lighting, which can still bring plenty of hygge.” – The Guardian

Books, Board Games & Good Conversation

One element that is synonymous with hygge is the idea of unplugging. So share snaps of you and your bffs playing board games and having some offline fun!

While the usual fall post ideas are always a win, if you are looking for something different, we suggest you embrace #hygge! Sharing images of hygge is a great way for you to engage the emotions of your followers.

But don’t forget to take the pressure off. While many images in #hygge are staged and impossibly beautiful, it’s more about the feeling your posts communicate. So don’t be afraid to keep it simple!
