Intern Blog #2

Hello readers, I’m back with another blog to share my first two weeks with Like A Voss Inc.

This experience so far has taught me a lot that I didn’t know before about the agency world and it’s helped me grow and learn more as someone who wants to maybe go into this field as a career. The team has been an amazing support and there’s a few things I aspire to do before I finish this experience.

It’s only been a short time since I started but I’ve already learned so much.

I started out just getting the lay of the land with the different platforms and clients that LAV works with. There is a lot more planning behind the scenes to make a company successful than I originally thought. Like finding the right wording for the voice and character we want to portray, generating hashtags and location based research. When I’m just leisurely scrolling through my personal Instagram I never notice these kinds of things but it’s interesting now that I’m looking more into it, I’m seeing it all over my page and comments.

I’ve been able to take on a lot of responsibilities and tasks on my own, which has been a great way for me to learn not only about what LAV does but also see what I’m capable of. I have been taking lead on our TikTok channel which has been really fun but also nerve racking because I honestly don’t know a lot about how to make content on the app. I guess I know a bit more than some of my older coworkers (coughMandicough) but I am definitely learning more every single day. I even got tasked to create a client strategy document which was really nerve wracking because it’s an important document that would be shared with the team and the client, but I think I did a good job which gave me a confidence boost for my future tasks.

As for the LAV team I couldn’t have asked for a better support system. They’ve all been so nice and welcoming to me and all my dumb questions they’re probably annoyed with. It may sound silly but LAV does this little thing on their group chat channels called “tacos”. The tacos are kind of a way to give your team members a virtual pat on the back for their hard work. It may be virtual but giving and receiving them really does feel like a group hug. It’s also interesting to see everyone share their strengths and grow as we work together more. Everyone is also really open to sharing their methods and helping me with my weaknesses.

For my future at LAV I want to keep trying to improve my literacy skills as well as get a hang of my voice and tone on engagement. I believe that once we are all in person it will help me communicate and practice with some people helping me as I go. I also want to find a way to personally catalogue my ideas better, especially with TikTok I feel like I have five ideas all at once then only use one and trash the others. If I am more organised with my content I can free up my time to grow more in other categories.
