It’s hard to believe that a month ago I was lying in my bed wide awake, staring at the ceiling, with my heart pounding out of my chest wondering if I could do this placement. Here I am, a month later, wondering if I can be without it.
Yes, that’s right friends. The time has come to say our goodbyes. But before we do that mushy, sad, sappy stuff, let’s go over a few things I’ve learned in my time here at Like a Voss. Below I will share my learnings in social media, marketing, self discoveries and fun facts.
Social Media:
- Engagement matters. One of my daily tasks was to search different hashtags that relate to us, and like and comment on others photos. Not some generic, insincere comment – but a real, genuine comment. Something to start a conversation. This builds relationships, gains followers and creates trust.
- It is important to be personal in your messaging and have one-on-one conversations. Just like commenting on others photos, it is best to have a conversation with your prospective clients and get to know their individual needs rather than sending a generic message out to the masses. That’s like throwing spaghetti you definitely know is uncooked, and still hoping that it sticks to the wall.
- Coming up with specific hashtags helps keep things simple, and easier to create content. If you’re still feeling stuck, you can even use the popular hashtags to your advantage like #MotivationMonday #TransformationTuesday, or #ThrowbackThursday.
Self Discoveries:
- I have always been one to hate asking questions. During my time in placement, I became a lot more comfortable asking for help when I needed it. And guess what, Mandi loved it. It showed that I was taking things seriously enough to not want to make mistakes.
- Although I love the creative side of things, I do like the routine tasks that require the same thing over and over again.
- I realized that I am obsessed with French Vanilla Coffee Mate… just saying. I am never going back to that half and half.
- Our company photoshoot had me feeling like I may be in the wrong work field. Soon you’ll know me as marketer by day, model by night. That could work.
Fun Facts:
- If you add protein to baked goods you almost can’t even tell.
- Mandi and I enjoy jamming to country music on the regular.
- Coworking spaces (especially ones in old churches) are actually the coolest and most beautiful spaces. I’m going to miss the community here, especially the ladies at the front desk that always greeted me with a smile.
- Coffee tastes better when it’s free.
It has been an unbelievable experience to say the least. And although I am sad to say goodbye, I do know that I always have someone to grab a burger with downtown, and that I have made a friend for life. Well, that’s a wrap friends. Catch you on the flip slide.
