Till We Meet Again

Well, we have finally reached this point. 6 weeks have passed and the academic year is coming to a close. My classmates and I have a final goodbye planned through Zoom and I have to say, it won’t be the same as attending the famous Gregg Awards or one of the AMC house parties but it’ll be great to see how everyone’s placement went and to have a final goodbye.

With the end of the school year also comes the end of my internship here with Like A Voss. I’ve had a week since my last blog to reflect on my experience with the team and to plan for how I would give any final tips to future interns that are reading this. It hasn’t been easy. Even naming this blog has proven to be difficult.

There are so many things I want to thank the LAV team for and so many tips I could share with you in this final blog.

To keep things short and sweet, I would like to give a sincere thank you to Amanda, Betina, Sabrina, Madison, Kim, and Emrys for providing such a welcoming and supportive environment and team culture. I learned more than I would have ever imagined over a short six weeks and I had so much fun along the way getting to know everyone. As a result of writing these blogs and consistently writing for different clients, my confidence in writing has improved tenfold. I am leaving my internship with a newfound comfortability and enjoyment in writing in different voices, including my own.

If I could provide any parting tips for future interns, regardless of employer, it would be this: you’ll get out what you put in, so step outside of your comfort zone and challenge yourself however you can. The growth you will see in yourself will be so worth any discomfort you might experience initially.

In retrospect, I wish I had started my college experience with that mindset. It’s all too easy to find the things you are comfortable with or knowledgeable in and to gravitate towards them to avoid putting yourself in challenging or uncomfortable situations. I’ve come to learn that those moments are truly moments of growth and should regularly be sought after if you aim to be a lifelong learner.

With all of that being said, this is the transition to the next chapter of my academic career! Now it’s time to finish what I initially started to do back in 2015, to finish my bachelor’s degree. I’m even more excited and motivated headed into this next chapter knowing that I have newfound confidence in my abilities and experience to back it up. I couldn’t be more excited for my future and thankful for the LAV team for providing me with my first real position in an agency.

I’m going to miss this parasocial relationship we have going on here, readers. Thank you for checking out these posts and giving me some much appreciated validation in my work.

Till we meet again!
