Our girl Betina interviewed Brooklyn about their secret to success in business and in life. We also got some awesome insights into what they think makes social media such an effective tool in business.
A Little Bit About Being an Entrepreneur
1: How long have you been in business?
The Cozy Company was established in December 2020. We have been operating for just over a year.
2: What made you decide to break away from the 9-5 and start The Cozy Company?
I am currently a full time student finishing up my bachelor degree in Business Admin. When the pandemic took my studies online and shut down the restaurant that I was serving part-time at, I was left at home behind my computer in my cozies. I also lost many opportunities that learning on campus created. I created this business to make my own opportunity rather than waiting for one. Outside of working, I love shopping and fashion so creating a clothing brand of comfort has truly been a dream!
3: What do you love most about being an entrepreneur?
I love everything about being an entrepreneur! I love empowering and inspiring others to do what they love, I love being creative and I love being apart of a community of other incredible entrepreneurs. I also love being able to watch Netflix for hours while I work lol!
4: What is the hardest thing you have had to overcome as an entrepreneur? Something you did not foresee when you decided to start The Cozy Company?
The hardest thing that I have had to overcome so far as an entrepreneur is work life balance. Something they don’t tell you about entrepreneurship is it can be a full time job. Between answering emails/messages, processing orders, running production, bookkeeping, website building, marketing, etc it truly is a full time job for one person to handle. It can be a very hard balance, although it is such a rewording feeling to see people wearing our brand, follow our page, and send us the kindest messages.

5: Do you have a favorite social media platform? Why?
My favourite social media platform is Instagram. I love the stories, reels, posts, as well as how I can use the platform to message customers, and the shop feature which shows off products and make shopping a new experience.
6: What made you decide to start using social media as a way to promote your company?
Social media in today’s society is a major form of communication. The majority of people spend at least an hour of their day on social media. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to create a social platform that would be a positive space to escape.
7: How has social media impacted your business? Would you say that it’s an effective marketing tool?
Social media has been the biggest marketing tool for my business so far. Starting small, businesses can always afford to spend the majority of their profits on advertising. Social media is a free tool and with proper use can help any business reach target audiences and customers that traditional methods can’t always do.
8: What advice would you give to other businesses and entrepreneurs who want to use social media as a way to connect with customers?
The biggest advice I can give to other businesses and entrepreneurs is find your niche, create a strong brand and be consistent. Be prepared that success doesn’t happen overnight.

Something not everyone knows about me is I am a full time university student, part-time server and business owner. Time management has been the number one key for me in order to work balance into my life style. Personally, I have a German Shepherd dog named Marley who is one of my best friends. I love shopping, social events, coffee and spending time with the people that mean the most to me.
