Our girl Betina interviewed Good Hair Day Scrunchies about their secret to success in business and in life. We also got some awesome insights into what they think makes social media such an effective tool in business.
A Little Bit About Being an Entrepreneur
1: How long have you been in business?
I started our page at the beginning of this new year in January, and I have recently just launched our first batch of scrunchies! I am so grateful for all the love and support so far!
2: What made you decide to break away from the 9-5 and start Good Hair Day Scrunchies?
I wanted to start my small business as I wasn’t happy working a 9-5. Oftentimes my workplace would be very toxic which has affected my anxiety and mental health. Good Hair Day Scrunchies started because I’ve always had a love for hair, and scrunchies are seriously one of my favourite hair / arm accessories. Sewing has been a way for me to relax and destress.
3: What do you love most about being an entrepreneur?
I love that I can be me and showcase that through my work. Every time I take a look at the scrunchies I’ve made or a social media post I’ve created I am overwhelmed with a sense of happiness. I guess you could say that being an entrepreneur has truly brought out the creative side of me.
4: What is the hardest thing you have had to overcome as an entrepreneur? Something you did not foresee when you decided to start Good Hair Day Scrunchies?
As an entrepreneur you hold so many titles from maker – social media manager. Oftentimes it can get pretty overwhelming to get things done on time, but that’s okay we’re all human. Everyone in this community is so understanding.
5: What is one thing about working in your industry that people would be surprised to learn?
There’s a ton of work that goes behind making scrunchies. From sourcing fabric to managing social media to photography. Oftentimes it can take more than a day to fix a small mistake.

6: Do you have a favourite social media platform? Why?
Instagram would have to be my go to social media platform as it provides the viewer(s) a visual representation of what you are putting out. Also it is a great platform to communicate with your viewers. It’s a great platform for anything and everything.
7: What made you decide to start using social media as a way to promote your company?
Social media has given lots of small businesses a place to grow and showcase their work. Everyone one uses social media nowadays, it’s a perfect place to reach out to your viewers.
8: How has social media impacted your business? Would you say that it’s an effective marketing tool?
I’ve found that having my business on social media has helped me and my business grow. It allows you to make relationships with everyone around the world. Social media has the ability to expand your content for a wider reach which is why I think it is a great tool for marketing!
9: What advice would you give to other businesses and entrepreneurs who want to use social media as a way to connect with customers?
Social media is such a great tool for your small business to expand. Don’t be too hard on yourself with algorithms, just be yourself!
