For many entrepreneurs and small businesses, social media can be an absolute game-changer! All it takes is one viral post and a business can suddenly take off.
At Like A Voss Inc, we’re highlighting local businesses and entrepreneurs who are killing the online game. This week’s spotlight is on Hanhy Park – Owner of Balancing Change Therapy!
Hi! I am Hanhy! I provide online therapy services in BC and Alberta! I specialize in relationship issues, self-esteem, and anxiety. My goal is to create a comfortable, caring, and non-judgemental environment for clients to feel like they can be themselves and explore life’s events in a safe environment.
A Little Bit About Being an Entrepreneur
1: How long have you been in business?
Just launched!
2: What made you decide to break away from the 9-5 and start your business?
I decided to go into private practice to create a better balance for myself by focusing on providing the best possible services that I can while ensuring I am not overloaded and burning out.
3: What do you love most about being a business owner?
Flexibility and autonomy!
4: What is the hardest thing you have had to overcome as an entrepreneur? Something you did not foresee when you decided to start your business?
Unpacking and dealing with negative inner-dialogue of “9-5 jobs create stability and therefore are better”. We are so socially constructed to think this way thanks to capitalistic societal structures.
5: What is one thing about working in your industry that people would be surprised to learn?
Therapists also see therapists – I’m not sure if people would be surprised to hear that, but it’s something I like to talk about because sometimes people can assume therapists can “therapize” themselves and that’s not the case – everyone can benefit from therapy!
And Now Onto The Social Media Questions!
6: Do you have a favourite social media platform? Why?
8: How has social media impacted your business? Would you say that it’s an effective marketing tool?
I’ve just started, so I’m not sure how it will impact my business exactly. However, with launching just recently, my friends and community have been sharing my profile so much and I feel extremely supported.
9: What advice would you give to other businesses and entrepreneurs who want to use social media as a way to connect with customers?
Just be yourself! Don’t worry about going viral or trends, I think the best business pages are the ones that stay true to themselves and what the business stands for. Aesthetically pleasing pages definitely grab attention, but the content is what keeps people hanging around!
A Little More About Hanhy
I’m 1.5 generation Korean Canadian, I’ve lived all over Canada and love to travel and eat good food! Some of my favourite things to do are: dance, watch the same 5-6 comedy TV series over and over again, play video & card games, snuggle my dogs, and spend quality time with the people I love – to me, it’s all about the simple things in life! I don’t think there’s much surprising about me – maybe the fact that I was in the military at one point in my life? Haha.
