Moksh is a woman owned handcrafted business in St. Albert, AB. In Sanskrit, ‘moksh’ is the realization of true self. At Moksh, our products are naturally sourced and mindfully curated to help you be your best self. Selling undated yearly planner, soy wax candles and skincare products.
Our boss Mandi interviewed Sujisha about their secret to success in business and in life. We also got some awesome insights into what she thinks makes social media such an effective tool in business.
A Little Bit About Being an Entrepreneur
1: How long have you been in business?
Moksh established in November 2021. We have been in business for 4 months.
2: What made you decide to break away from the 9-5 and start your business?
I’m working part time as a Pharmacy Assistant. Well, a full time or part time job should not stop or scare you away from starting a business. For years and years, I wanted to start a business especially a business for woman. I have an entrepreneur mindset so it constantly nagged me to start something my own. I’m using bullet journals for years and many of my friends ask me to share the contents of the bullet journal for them. So initially I took photos of my journal and send them, then I thought it would be better to create a pdf for them, rather than sending pics individually. That’s all where Moksh started. I created and designed an undated planner for woman. Researched and taught myself to make candles and skincare products with natural and ethically sourced ingredients.
3: What do you love most about being an entrepreneur?
The ability to control my own schedule & more learning opportunities from new challenges – from creating something from scratch and accomplishing my dream one day a time. It allows me to focus on interesting things that matter to me and things I find interesting.
4: What is the hardest thing you have had to overcome as an entrepreneur? Something you did not foresee when you decided to start your business?
Wearing all the hats at the beginning from administration to production. With all the responsibilities on my plate, I was not focusing on the most important things like marketing, signing new clients and contacting shop owners. And lesson learned – figure out what needs to be done in the beginning, focus and seek help.

5: Do you have a favorite social media platform? Why?
Yes, Instagram & Facebook pages makes it easier to attract local audience and build relationships online which helps growing my business. So connecting with new online customers is essential for creating long term business growth.
6: What made you decide to start using social media as a way to promote your company?
Because social media is so much more than just a platform for promoting and selling my products. It gives me the opportunity to build my brand recognition, customer engagement and develop loyal customers.
7: How has social media impacted your business? Would you say that it’s an effective marketing tool?
I would say yes, yes, and yes lol. Social media play a very pivotal role in driving more sales to my business. It is a great way to quickly & easily reply to customer inquiries and provide relevant updates.
8: What advice would you give to other businesses and entrepreneurs who want to use social media as a way to connect with customers?
Make sure you focus on the social media platforms that your customers are most engaged with, that is now a days youth are more using Instagram, TikTok than Facebook, also adults are more engaged in Facebook, and put together a plan for consistently publishing and engaging with them.
