One of my professors told me that even they can’t always handle constructive criticism, they would have to sike themselves up when reading student feedback notes, and they have been teaching for almost 20 years.
I mean it’s hard not to take criticism to heart, it feels like it’s an attack on your personality and work ethic. But all constructive criticism is meant to do is help you become stronger and more fluent in what you’re working on.
I took it personally at first when I was given some constructive criticism on things that I was working on, I can admit that. It was honest, clear, helpful AND constructive – but that doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt a bit (at first).
There comes a time where we’re all working on something new and a part of the training and learning is to take feedback with a smile, stay strong, and use it to become unstoppable.
Second Week Run Down
My second week started out well.
Mondays are content writing and scheduling days for all our clients, so I usually keep myself available in case someone needs me to do something. I also keep myself busy with my daily tasks and try to keep myself sharp with any training videos I haven’t watched.
I enjoy being able to improve my skills while I work by watching videos or just trying something new. This week I learned how to schedule posts for a client for the first time on Sendible, the website is very overwhelming as we have many posts on there and all clients have different specifications for posting but It was easy once I got the hang of it.
Small Victories
I was able to see some of the first content I wrote for Like A Voss get posted this week on our social media channels. It feels good to see your work in action, and it was my first time writing content that was used to promote a business, so that made it extra exciting. I know each week my work will get stronger and stronger, and I will find my groove! (woo!)
Next Week’s Goals
- Take constructive criticism like a champ!
- Keep asking questions.
- Learn more.
- Write more + catch mistakes.
Thanks for catching up with me about my second week as an Intern and come back next Friday for more!
