Given that we are a social media management company, I thought it would be good to share some social media best practices with everyone. Although you might not want to manage your accounts on your own, it is still good to know some of the basics so you can evaluate the kind of company you want to outsource to.
In this blog, I am going to break each social media network into a few main points everyone should know.
Twitter:
– Compose compelling, funny or thought-provoking tweets
– Tweet at the right times and spread your tweets throughout the day
– Research the right hashtags for your target and use them strategically
– Interact with thought leaders (by including their handle)
– Use “please RT” to increase RTs, but don’t use it too often
– Follow people who follow you (if they are the in the right industry
– Use the search feature to find users in your demographic
Facebook Company Page:
– Quality of posts is more important than quantity
– Facebook sharing spikes at noon, and then again just after 7:00 pm
– Interact with your audience and respond to questions promptly
– Invite your entire friend’s list to your page to get the ball rolling
– Follow other company pages and interact with them
Instagram:
– Create a theme for your content and be consistent
– Engage with your followers (comment, follow back, like other photos)
– Spread out posts instead of posting several at once
– Make sure your photographs are aesthetically pleasing and creative
– #you #don’t #need #to #hashtag #every #single #word (annoying right?)
Linkedin Profile:
– Set your custom URL
– Set Your Skills and Endorsements
– Add as much information as possible
– Join relevant Linkedin groups, and be active
– Connect to your warm market (family and friends)
– Use your three free backlinks
Pinterest:
–Add the Pin button to your website
– Add links in the descriptions of your pins that navigate back to your website
– Use hashtags in the descriptions of your pins
– Schedule pins in the evening – 9:00 pm is peak time for Pinterest
– Quality of posts is more important than quantity
– Share your Pins on Facebook and Twitter – integration is important
Google+:
– Verify your Page
– Claim your custom URL
– Add the G+ Badge to your site
– Engage with your community
– Quality of posts is more important than quantity
– Use Google+ Circles
– Make sure you are paying attention to notifications and interacting with your audience
